High-Fidelity Compressive Heart Rate Tracking

Recently, photoplethysmography sensors in smart watches have been frequently used to monitor heart rate. Because a sensor flashes light on the skin and measures reflected light, rate of flashing sampling is directly related its energy consumption. It necessary reduce extend battery life watch. In this study, satisfy sub-Nyquist sampling, real-time, high accuracy requirements, we propose novel tracking method that consists online compressive covariance sensing, signal subspace tracking, spectral peak tracking. The proposed (average rate: 1.4 Hz) showed better frequency performance than conventional algorithm (sampling 10 time-varying simulations, statistically significant difference between them was not observed real photoplethysmogram data. trimmed average absolute error 1.04 beats/min. As result, real-time with accuracy.
